Most recently shoppers have enjoyed many choices and styles of wall hugger recliners to choose from. No matter what the décor or style of your other pieces, you should be able to find the right style for your home. Here are a few styles that you may run into.
Modern Furniture
Modern refers to furniture produced from the middle of the 19th century, influenced by modernism. It was much different than all the other styles that came before it. No more ornate dark heavily carved features. This gave way to clean lines, chrome, and many new materials.
Traditional Furniture
Traditional furniture is considered very formal and resembles what is known as Victorian furniture, really at the end of the 18th century. It is quality furniture made often by hand and very rarely was machine made or carved. It often featured fancy animal heads or claw feet and the fabrics were also high end often times being made of the finest cloth.
All other styles fall into a category known as transitional. This is where designers refer to furniture that really doesn’t fit into other areas. Perhaps if you have or have seen over size wall hugger recliners from the 80’s or early 90’s, with large over stuffed arms, then this is to what we are referring to. What is most important is that you always remember that it is your home and space and you should in the end buy what is most comfortable for you and your family.
